ROCK ON AT THE EURO GYRO.

The Euro Gyro in Kent, Ohio has great food. They also feature some great bands, too. We recently had the privelige of playing there on a Tuesday night, which wasn't half bad. It was definitely an improvement on the show at Youngstown State, and we played well. However, we seemingly cannot conquer the fact that we run out of energy after the first half of our shows. So even though this performance had some merit, it should have been better. I'm pretty sure we rock...don't we?

Love and pessimism,
Heinrich

Richie Donovan's Perspective

January 21, 1997: Europe Gyro in Kent, OH

Besides the fact that this show was virtually a waste of time, it was a good show. Two of us (Heinrich and I) had to miss class for this, but it's all in the name of rock'n'roll.

The show was deemed the title "The Youngstown Invasion" by myself because we played with two other bands from the hometown, both of which I thoroughly enjoy.

We took the stage (or lack of stage) first, because we all had to get up early to do our duties existing in our mundane parallel worlds. The other world is the rock'n'roll dimension of course which hopefully will provide us with enough sustenance to allow us to disregard the other. (Back from stray dream babble) We played pretty well with emotion and enthusiasm the way it should be. All of us made a few mistakes here and there, but they didn't have any profound detrimental effects on the crowd's perception of our performance.

One thing that concerned me especially was the volume of my amp. It was blaring more loudly than ever before, and it actually made me very nervous. It's times like those when you just have to say, "I'm good enough. I'm smart enough, and dog gone it people like me" and play your ass off. That's what I did, y'all.

Clock Eating Planet played next blowing up the joint with their heavy, dreamy, bluesy tunes. They delivered crushing grooves while throwing in some surprise songs like Andy's surf song. They had a cool sound that was not of this Earth. Check them out.

The Moons of Meepzorp were setting up as we were leaving. I don't know how they did, but I've seen them many times before; I'm sure they did just fine. They're a three piece featuring drums, bass, and guitar. All in the band are skilled musicians playing their own brand of acid/jazz/rock. Check them out also.

Okay. Enough. Bye.

Kent

The Youngstown Invasion was out to prove that Youngstown is home of the finest rock n roll between your arse and heaven. Mission Accomplished. Had a great time! Ate some gyros! Checked out two great Y-town bands for the price of one. You gots to love Kent.
