the Pickle Rock 'n' Roll Journal
February 21, 1997 -- 31st Street Pub, Pittsburgh, PA.

After too long of a break Pickle was bound for the 'burgh to do a show with the infamous Bitter Delores; always a pleasure. After a solemn drive through the lush organic scenery -- the path to Pittsburgh, we ended up at the club. Pickle was greeted by a group of strangers, later to be announced as the band Folly. They were a really good band. They are signed to Sun Records, a record label famous for Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis. The most interesting thing about Folly is their drummer, a demure woman small of frame, however big on emotion. She beat the drums as if they were a "rented mule." The band Folly was good. Then Pickle, who were so dispondent about the feedback they were experiencing, buckled down and performed a great show. (What rock-n-rollers we are). Finally, there was BItter Delores, they put on a superb show. Every time that we play with them it just keeps getting better and better. Even though I still can't figure out which one of them is Delores. Oh well, the mystery continues.

Pondering on Pickle, by Heinrich.

Well, we played at the 31st Street Pub in Pittsburgh, and it turned out to be a great show. We didn't have a whole lot of time to play, but that gave us the opportunity to scale down our set and focus on our stronger material. We also played with two other rockin' bands which kept everything moving. The first band, Folly, envigorated the club with massive doses of energy and chops (especially the drummer, who was especially intense), and the other act, Bitter Delores...well, let's just say that they never fail to deliver the goods. As far as Pickle goes, we seemed tight and focused; plus, add that special ingredient of passion, and I think we (hopefully) brought down the house.
Overall, a fun and great show.

Love and optimism,
Heinrich.
