the Pickle Rock 'n' Roll Journal
February 22, 1997 -- Amy's Campus 2000, Youngstown, Ohio.

Pondering on Pickle, by Heinrich.

I kept wondering whether we'd be able to top our previous show in Pittsburgh once we arrived back in Youngstown to rock Amy's Campus 2000. When we first arrived around nine o'clock, the place wasn't even open, and we all thought that it might have closed down. Thankfully, it hadn't and we slipped into our rock 'n' roll mode quite easily after that. The opening band, Clock Eating Planet, were simply incredible, with catchy riffs and notable energy -- you've all got to check these guys out. They kind of sound like Black Sabbath, but with a welcome sense of humor.

When we took the stage, it was again a rather tight performance, will all positive and necessary elements intact. However, some people seemed disappointed that we only played for a little over an hour, but we always make the point of rejecting filler material. We even tried a cover song which didn't pan out as well as expected, but it was fun anyway. Also, the club itself is a great place to play - it's clean, well-designed, and the management are really cool people.

Turn up the radio,
Heinrich

Amy's Campus 2000, Yo., Oh.

Saturday night turned out to be a lot colder than Friday, but nevertheless, the rock must roll. We arrived ayt Amy's slightly before the owner and waited in the cold. Fortunately, one of us stays on the northside of Youngstown and was able to stay warm while the others waited in the bitter cold weather. The owner arrived and thus began a rock and roll extravaganza. We shared the bill that night with Youngstown's own, Clock Eating Planet. Made up of some boys from the days of the Penguin Pub. Andy, Shane and Mark took to the stage and the power trio began to rock the house. Andy and his vocal effects box taking you to new astral plains. blowing the sound barrier with their space-like charm as the alien took me into the sun. Andy walked me around an experience that not even Uriah Heap could top. Demons and Wizards was a good album but nothing beats a dose of clock eating planets. Pickle rocked as usual.
